You can help out too....by putting up some of the latest posters. Thanks a lot in advance!
We appeared on the BBC's Made in Bristol section
on 21st March 2003. This is the article, entitled "Loveless and Notchless":
Hot student lovin' on the web. Chris Kelly talks to Alex Neill about his uni dating site:
THIS STORY LAST UPDATED: 21 March 2003 1604 GMT
If you are a fresher at Bristol University, you have probably been in the city about six months now. In that time, by my reckoning, you
should have quite a few notches on your bedpost, so to speak. If the answer is yes, then you should stop reading now. If the answer is no,
and your bedpost is smoother than the pint I had last night, then I have the answer. Alex Neill has set up a new website specifically for
love-lorn students at the uni. Bristol Romance is a free site, based on successful sister sites in Cambridge and Oxford, set up by Alex's
brother, Richard. "The ratio of men to women at Cambridge is something like 5:1," Alex told me. "I think he might have been looking for a
girlfriend, but this is all good IT experience too. "He's very set about not ripping students off, so the site is free to use, and doesn't
have adverts." Good on Richard for helping them all out, I say! "At the moment we have around 200 people on the Bristol site.
Flowers for the ladies
"We were outside the Wills Memorial Building handing out flowers dressed in DJs to promote the website. "About 150 more people signed up
in the past few days after that!" That's not bad going, since the website has only been up-and-running about eight weeks. Lots of potential
dates at the end of an internet connection ...In fact, the original sites in Oxford and Cambridge have seen two engagements and a marriage.
Surely that puts even Cilla Black to shame! It is easy to sign up to the site, with only a few basic pieces of information required.
Filling in your profile
"If you go to the website, you can sign by giving your email address, and choosing a nickname. "There's already a few joke ones going around.
"After that all you need to do is fill in some basic profile information out yourself, and what you're looking for." So, no excuses now.
If you are a slow starter on the bed notch front, here's your saviour! Good luck.

The Bristol
Evening Post. Of course, Alex is actually Alex Neill.
IT'S LOVE AT FIRST SITE - 11:00 - 17 March 2003
An enterprising 20-year-old at Bristol University has set up a website to help lovelorn students find their perfect mate. Psychology
student Alex King[sic] has already persuaded 200 people that they will not find true love without his help, and the number looks set to grow.
He has taken the idea from his elder brother who has achieved great success with popular web sites in Cambridge and Oxford and is now
looking to expand to universities all over the country. Alex said: "The web site at Cambridge, where my brother lives, is taken quite
seriously as there are about five men for every one woman there, so every little helps. "They've already had a wedding as a result of
a couple meeting on it and the site now has more than 1,000 members. "But the one in Oxford is a bit more light-hearted, although it
still has loads of members, and people also use it as a bit of a chat room. "We're hoping that this Bristol site will take off in the same
way as the one in Cambridge." And although you may think that young vibrant students in a city like Bristol could rely on more traditional
means of communication and meeting, just think again. Budding student lovers on there already, such as those under the curious names of
Mathew the Mad Love Maker, Bunny Boy, Big Mo, Dr Dolittle and Swede, will all disagree with you.

The two articles above were written after Alex and Ellie enjoyed a sumptuous black-tie meal outside the Refectory on the 13th March. This dinner
was kindly supplied by Brazz. Other volunteers helped to get people to sign up - as a result, over
new members joined!
