Hello, and a very warm welcome to OxfordRomance.org.uk! We hope you will have a great deal of fun with this site, and that you will find what you seek. This is a quick introduction to the site which may be of interest if you have not visited before.

Introduction

• This site is (we hope!) very easy to use. All the options are listed on the left hand side of the page. There is more information on the frequently asked questions page. However, please do ask if you would like help.
  
  
• The first thing to do is to create an advert to describe yourself. This is also the page where you can set some of your preferences. Adverts can later be hidden, or changed. You will find OxfordRomance far more useful and enjoyable if you take a few moments to describe yourself and what you are looking for.
  
  
• After this, take a look at the ads of other people, decide which you like, and send them some messages! You will be notified if you receive messages, which will appear in your OxfordRomance inbox.

** Important Information - please read **

• The etiquette of OxfordRomance.org.uk may be unfamiliar, since expectations and acceptable behaviour online are sometimes different to the "real world". Here is some more information.
  
  
• Important advice for new members: OxfordRomance.org.uk is a textual medium, in which tone of voice is not usually conveyed. When sending messages, please bear in mind how they will appear in print (especially if you don't use smileys). In particular, please be careful how you employ sarcasm/irony/cheekiness since they may be read simply as rudeness. That's not to say you can't do irony online; just to advise new members that words may not always be interpreted as they were intended.
  
  
• Gremlins somtimes strike! We're constantly working on the code, and we do test it very carefully. However if something breaks, the chances are that we don't know about it - otherwise, we'd already have fixed it. Please send us an email, because we may well be unaware of the problem.
  
  

Other

• The site also has some advanced features: please explore them. The following things may be useful to know (they are all dcumented in the FAQ, but here is a quick summary):
  
  
  • Each time you click on a link, the system checks for new messages. Click the logo in the top-left to refresh the home page.
    
  • The top right contains a list of the members who are currently logged in. Click to send them a message.
    
  • Stealth mode allows you to turn off the fluffiness, if you wish to use the site from a public terminal.
    
  • A notification will be sent out to you by email if new messages arrive for you.
    
  • Inconsiderate behaviour and misuse of the site is rare. However, if it does occur, please let us know and we will act.
  
  
• Legal waffle: please read the disclaimer and terms of use and have fun safely.
  
  
• If you have any feedback, please do contact us. We love to receive your ideas, feedback, success-stories, requests, bug-reports,..., and will be as helpful as we possibly can. If you would like to get involved, that would be great too!
